For many people (me included), in the morning, the first thing the goes through their mind is – COFFEE. It is drunk very often by the vast of majority, so it’s not bad to know a few things that can help you make your coffee healthier.
Use organic coffee
Unfortunately, it is one of the crops that are most treated with chemicals. In conventional production of coffee per hectare is used almost 280 kg of fertilizers.
When you drink it, you intake the residues of chemicals that contribute to many health problems.
Over time, regular cup or two you drink leads to a buildup of toxins. It is therefore very important to choose organic coffee, which will itself provide much healthier satisfaction.
Replace the addition of milk with some better variant
Milk is often added to it. It looks innocent enough – but do you really want to add extra growth hormones, antibiotics and pesticides in your coffee (all of which, unfortunately, is contained in the conventionally produced milk)?
Make your coffee healthier by omitting the milk. Or, if you can, get some organic milk or cream. The other alternative is to use soy, rice, almonds, coconut or some other vegetable milk.
Avoid refined sugar
Most people who keep an eye on their health avoid refined sugar, but often make exceptions when it comes to their favorite morning drink. However, refined sugar is often with a GMO origin and is not good for those who have problems with the stomach or liver.
Try to use organic brown cane sugar or low-glycemic sugar such as coconut sugar, and it is desirable to add some cinnamon also, which will calibrate the speed of raising blood sugar levels.
One of the main things that can be problematic is its acidity. But this will not be a problem if our diet is based on alkalized foods (fresh fruit and vegetables), but if in our diet prevail grains and proteins of animal origin, then the coffee gets additional burden.
To reduce the acidity of the coffee, cook it with water that has a higher level of alkalinity (there are several types in stock). If you add a little plain butter or coconut oil in it, they will also reduce the acidity.
Reduce the negative effects of caffeine
It is caffeine what most of us likes in the coffee. But it artificially stimulates our adrenal glands, which contributes to their exhaustion in the long run. The irony is that we use caffeine to get more energy and in short periods, it does works, but in the long runs, it leaves us chronically tired which makes us drink more and more coffee to achieve the same effect, and sometimes with no effect at all.
However, something can be done to reduce the exhaustion of adrenal glands without sacrificing the enjoyment in coffee. There are plants so called adaptogenic herbs, that help to balance the adrenal glands.
At the same time, this plant reduces the effect of depletion of adrenaline that occurs during the regular consumption of coffee. You can, for example, add a little reishi mushroom powder or other medicinal plants in the coffee. If you are exaggerating with the coffee, it is necessary to help your hormonal system to normalize the secretion of adrenaline.
Recipe for a healthier coffee:
You will need: Single Serve Coffee (Organic Coffee), Spring water – alkalized, ¼ teaspoon reishi mushroom powder (for reducing the effect of caffeine), 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon (helps raise more balanced blood sugar levels), Coconut sugar or Stevia, 1 teaspoon butter or coconut oil – (Optional)
Brew coffee as you’re used to and add the listed ingredients.
Enjoy your healthier coffee …
