HCG Diet Plan – True Results But Yet Risky

The HCG Diet Plan has become pretty common these last years and considering the fact that each year, Americans spend millions of dollars of weight loss products it has become quite popular in the States too.

There are many different types of diets these days which promise miracles with little to no effort. The latest trend is the diet known as the HCG diet Plan. People who tried it have lost 20 to 30 pounds in a month.

HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin) is a hormone found in pregnant women. It’s been approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a fertility treatment. But lately some people have been injecting it to shed pounds quickly.

During the taking of the hormone, the patient must follow a severely restricted diet, which is contained by daily intake of only 500 calories per day.

According to Dr. Suzanne Yee – “It mobilizes 1000 to 1500 calories of fat from your own body and surely lowers your appetite”. So you don’t feel hungry even though you’re on a 500-calorie diet.”

What HCG Diet Plan does is forcing your body to start absorbing that deposited fats from it and converting them to energy.

Basically it`s a sort of simulation of the process where the women body during pregnancy uses the fat reserves for feeding the baby in the womb.

Bernice Burchfield, 57, saw an advertising about the HCG Diet Plan and immediately contacted Dr. Yee’s office. After thirty days treatment with 40 injections , she can wear her old clothes again.
“I had gotten up to 171 pounds,” Burchfield says. And I said, ‘no more.’ I’m down to 140 today.”

Lisa Faver and Geoff Carmack have also got quite well results with the HCG diet plan. Faver lost 40 pounds, Garmack lost 25.

However there are many physicians and dietitians who are against this type of extreme weight loss. Besty Day is one of them. Head of the weight control program at UAMS and registered dietitian.

“Everybody`s going to reduce weight consuming 500 calories a day,” Day says. “It doesn’t matter if you inject yourself with cake batter. You’re going to lose weight on 500 calories a day.”

Day says at the UAMS program they focus on long-term lifestyle changes. “Anyone who uses this diet probably may lose weight, but they’re going to gain all that weight back, if they don’t incorporate this long-term lifestyle changes.”

So far the three HCG dieters which KATV interviewed, have kept the weight off. Only time will tell if that will continue. In the meantime, they are enjoying a renewed sense of self-confidence.

“Before, I didn’t like to be around people because I was overweight. ” Faver says. “Now I can do things that I wouldn’t have normally done.”

Remember there is no quick weight loss diet that will work in the long run if you don’t learn how to eat healthy the rest of your life. Before you consider to start using any supplements for weight loss or to start some weight loss program, it’s best to consult with your doctor.

There is a lot of controversy surrounding this HCG Diet Plan. So the best for you will be to do a little bit of research.
