Healthy Nuts Reduce the Risk of Disease Including Cancer

Regular consumption of healthy nuts reduces the risk of all types of potentially fatal diseases by 20 %, doctors and nutritionists advice.

A group of researchers from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Hospital-Care and Harvard Faculty of Public Health, published the result`s of their study in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine.

That study found the following:

People who eat a daily handful of nuts have a 20% lower the risk of dying of any disease  in the next 30 years.

In addition, regular consumers were thinner on average than those who do not eat them. And the fact says  that we should alleviate the fears of those who say that their consumption can lead to weight gain …

To reach their results, the researchers examined data from two extensive, well-documented scientific research. First followed 76,464 women over an thirty of age, and another 42,498 men over a 26 of age.

Participants of the study were filled out questionnaires every two years. One of the questions in each questionnaire was how often you consume healthy nuts, in a quantity of 30 grams ( which is considered one serving) …

The researchers found that individuals who ate one serving (30g) less than once a week, had a lass then 7% part in average mortality of population.

Those who ate one serving once a week had  11% less then average, those who consumed two to four times a week  13% and  five to six times a week, 15% less.

And the greatest reduction in risk of death due to some disease were those who ate nuts seven or more times a week with a 20 percentage.

To the group, in the present study were implied: walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, Brazil nuts, cashew nuts, macadamia, pine nuts, pistachio nuts and hickory (all belonging to the healthy nuts category).

Risk reduction is related to the following potentially fatal diseases: cancer, heart disease, stroke and diabetes.

By reducing risk, scientists attributed the improvement of relations between “good ” and ” bad” cholesterol in the blood, reducing oxidation stress, reduce inflammation, reduce fats and reduce insulin resistance.

The leader of the study Dr. Charles S. Fuchs, concluded:  “The biggest benefit of (eating healthy nuts) was a 29% reduction in the incidence of heart disease, which are the biggest killer in America. But we’ve also noticed the significant reduction of 11% risk of death from cancer.
