During last few months, a dangerous chemical was found in one of the America’s most popular and surely the best toothpaste.
The substance is called triclosan and is also used in hand sanitizers, cleansers and deodorants/antiperspirants. It is used as an antibacterial agent in preservatives to resist bacteria, antiseptics for wounds, facial tissues, and laundry detergent.
These products include linens, toys, toilet fixtures, clothing, mattresses, garbage bags etc.
A recent study showed that this chemical encourages cancer development. Many other studies in the last few years outlined the health risk related to this chemical.
But don’t forget that corporations and governments use to inform us that asbestos, DDT and PCB’s were all effective and safe, yet all of them since then have been prohibited.
Triclosan passes through the skin and hinders with hormone function. Scientists also found the substance in the urine of 75% of the tested people.
CMA (Canadian Medical Association) called for a ban of products that consists this chemical.
“According to FDA (food and drug administration), Triclosan is a safe substance.”
This document was actually withheld from the public. FDA and the major corporations have a big influence and power over the government policy.
Despite the many lawsuits and pieces of evidence with one of the biggest dental brand Colgate, the corporation says that there is nothing to worry about and that everything is fine with the usage of their products.
Will you continue to believe the corporations, will you continue the use of this so called one of the “best toothpaste“, will you do research by yourself, it is up to you.
These corporations are not concerned about your health, they only want to maximize their profits.
The company behind Colgate Total insists that triclosan, which it uses to stave off gum disease, is safe to use because the toothpaste was approved in 1997 by the Food and Drug Administration.
In the end, Colgate drastically said that it has no intentions to reformulate the content of the toothpaste no matter the cause.
